The admissions process for Park Avenue Methodist Day school has three parts. First, your family fills out and submits an application. Second, you are invited to attend an information meeting and tour. Finally, you and your child are invited to attend a play group.
To get an application for the 2013 – 2014 school year:
Please mail the application, a recent picture of your child, and the application fee to: Admissions, Park Avenue Methodist Day School, 106 East 86th Street, New York, NY 10028. The application fee of $75 is non-refundable. It must be submitted with your application. Please make sure that the check is made payable to: Park Avenue Methodist.
Once we have received your application, someone from the school office will contact you to arrange the information meeting and tour as well as the play group.
We will schedule information meetings and tours in two formats:
Each child is invited to attend a small play group with four or five children in which they will interact with teachers or other school staff. Please note that we require at least one parent to attend this play group with their child. (Caregivers can attend in addition to a parent.) These morning visits are scheduled from early December through February.
We don't have a strict age cutoff, but for our groups developed with 3s in mind, we are looking for mature children born in 2010 who will work well within our groups.
We are proud to offer our 2s program for children born on or after January 1, 2011 for the 2013 – 2014 school year. This program follows our play-based curriculum and will focus on socialization, independence and exploration with art, music and manipulatives. We will also read a story each day. As a slow separation class, this program will provide children and their families with a wonderful opportunity to gain an introduction to a nursery school environment in a nurturing, small group. We ask that parents/caregivers plan to remain at school until their child is fully adjusted.
The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 – 3:30pm, and tuition for the 2013 – 2014 program is $4,000.

Once we receive your application, we will contact you to arrange a tour and informational meeting. The final step of the application process includes a visit to the class (in mid-January) where you and your child will play in the classroom and have the opportunity to meet the teacher.
Contracts for 2013 – 2014 will be mailed according to the ISAAGNY guidelines.
Applicants to our 3s, 4s and 5s programs are eligible to be considered for financial aid.
There are two sources of financial aid. First, each year the Director sends a letter to parents requesting support for financial aid for children who cannot afford the tuition. Second, a special fund was established a number of years ago by a family grateful to the school to support the children of nannies employed by PAMDS parents. Socio-economic diversity is extremely important to the ambiance of the school community.
Applications for financial aid are evaluated using information compiled in accordance with the procedures developed by the National Association of Independent Schools.
